BCCI official visits Jawaharlal Nehru stadium

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s security adviser R K Das visited the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium and held discussions with the Kochi City Police officials on Thursday.

Representatives of Kochi Cricket Private Limited Vivek Venugopal and Dhawal Shah and Kerala Cricket Association officials accompanied Das and they met Deputy Police Commissioner P A Valsan and shared with them the security guidelines for the fourth edition of Indian Premier League beginning on April 8.

The first match in Kochi is scheduled for April 9 between Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The security cover for the players and officials, right from the time the teams arrive at the Cochin International Airport in Nedumbassery and till the time they leave the city, was also part of the guidelines, the KCA sources said.

The City Police is expected to provide heavy security for the highprofile event, including the players’ and officials’ accommodation and transport.

The KCA officials said the guidelines were a routine exercise, similar to the ones followed during the six OneDay Internationals hosted at the JN Stadium previously.

Prior to the matches, the camp for the Tuskers will begin on March 26, involving players who are not part of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
